The 'Sequence in Time' idea is the use of the 3 portraits to create a story like structure, where I will use the 3 portraits as essentially 1 tv showing the same video. The sequence will show a story of a progression.
Within my idea i'm trying to convey, is to show a person walk from one tv portrait to the other and to end at the last portrait tv and create a whole short story. The whole sequence should last around 3-5 mins.

'Breakout' Idea.
It was definitely getting harder trying to figure out a 2nd idea. As we were asked to present it on 3 portrait tv's, I thought why not just use that as an advantage to present some self portraits of myself.
For the 2nd 'idea' I thought about creating my emotions on the portraits. By doing this I will show 3 portraits of myself, a mid-shot of myself. In the 1st and 3rd portrait there will be 1 person in one and 1 in the other. The 1st person within the 1st portrait will express an emotional expression to the portrait in the middle. The 3rd person within the 3rd portrait will express their anger towards the portrait in the middle.
Within the middle portrait it will convey a person taking in the actions, soaking up the anger and the emotion. Eventually the self portrait in the middle will 'breakout' and express his own feelings towards the two.
I found an example that I reference to for my middle portrait to look like, but this example is a video within a film. This 'Video' is shown in a scene where it is taken place in an art exhibition. This Film is called "Dinner for Schmucks". Here is the scene.
'Isolation' Idea.
When coming to an understanding of what to do for this project, really found it hard to think of an idea. I eventually thought of an idea that really involved me testing my physical state and my psychological state.
In summary, my idea Entails me to stay isolated within my room for approximately 3 days (72 hours), when doing this my stimulants within my room will be taken out I.e. Laptop, guitar, books, music etc this is so, as I wish to show the psychological progress of what I will go through within the 3 days of doing it. I will also be without sleep for 3 days as well. Additionally I will ration myself of food and water, enough to last for the 3 days.
When taking this to the 3 portraits, I will portray each day on each of the portraits e.g. first day on first portrait and so on. This will therefore show my state change through the 3 days. When speaking to lecturer of this idea, he suggested that I go for medical to see whether I am fit enough to this idea.
I came up with idea when in bed and thought how would the body and mind react if it were deprived from all sources of stimulants, rationed on food for a period of time and deprived of sleep. So I started thinking if I could show it though a time lapse of myself going through the stages of my state.
Furthermore, during the process of doing the experiment, every 3 hours I will write a page in my journal to feedback how I am feeling at that current state. The camera will be set at one corner of the room which will take constant images as the hours go by. The problem by doing this is that I would need a very big SD Card/Micro SD card, this is of concern to me as SD Cards are very dear.
One of the my examples that I will it of is the 'David Blaine Box Trick'. Now when he did this he had months of conditioning before doing the stunt, he had all round medicals. He had no food for supposedly 44 days.
As you can see in the image above, David Blaine is suspended from a crane above the River Thames.
In my case it will not be as extreme as this, mine is just an experimental piece to see what will happen within the 3 days of doing. When thinking about this, I asked one of my close friends who studies Psychology at University to see what the outcome would be, of how I would feel during the process of it and also the end result. She said that Sleep Deprivation will be caused, Dizziness, Fatigued, Weak, Brain Dead and so on.
What Is 'Time Lapse' Photography?
When talking to members of my family about my new project, most of them said "what's Time Lapse Photography?", I explained it as simple as this: Imagine a portrait of a vase of fresh smelly red roses, now imagine Time itself within the portrait being sped up and eventually showing the red roses deteriorate. Now what 'Time Lapse Photography' does is that it has so many photos taken per second within that duration of time, which therefore creates a look as if it were done in a short period of time.
When researching for examples of Time Lapse Photography and 'Time Photography' itself I first looked at 'Long Exposure' photography that show time within the image. The photograph that came into mind was the image of Salvador Dali where he is painting and the environment that he is in is 'active'.
Now when we first got our briefing for this project this image came to mind straight away. As within the image it conveys a form of 'Time Lapse' due the long exposure of the water, the chair tossed in the the air, cats thrown at mid air and Salvador Dali himself jumping. So the image is taken at a point of time when all in the image is at movement, creating a sense of 'Time' and 'Realisation'.
Moving forward in time I thought of the generic sequence from 'The Matrix', where Neo is dodging the bullets, namely "Bullet Time". 'Bullet Time' from what I know was set up through multiple cameras which were taking pictures roughly milliseconds after each other. The cameras were set up in a circle, which alternated, swerving up and down.
Within this video it shows the basic understanding of 'Time Lapse Video', these videos are also a perfect example of Long Term capturing, as this is taken within so many months.

As you can see in the 'gif' above the camera is shown starting high and then ending at a low angle, this is because of the cameras that are set up. As shown within the image below.
In this image you can see that on the green screened platforms and background, there are holes, these holes are the cameras that would be taking the images of the movement. Each of these cameras would have taken at least 25 frames per camera, reassuring that the movement is solid and fluent. Another film that can be seen doing this is latest "Total Recall". In the starting fight seen there is a sequence of where Colin Farrell is fighting off the police.
Other "Time Lapse" Videos can be shown through a flower sprouting, food moulding, the night sky moving etc. One example I found of a good way to show 'Time Lapse' photography is progression of building construction.

Time Art Project Briefing
Within my first week back from the Christmas break, me and the rest of the class were all given our new project briefings. The Project itself was of 'Time Art'. When explained to us by Simon, we were asked to individually plan, research and reflect on ideas/concept of "Time". As explained below from the project briefing sheet:
Overview of the Project:
This is an individual project that should enable you to explore, research and reflect on the ideas/concept of “Time”.
How can time be represented/expressed?
How has time been explored in the arts before?
How will time affect your future?
What does Time mean to you?
How does Time affect you?
What does time make you feel?
From your research, find an time related subject or area that interests you
and using Adobe After Effects, You will plan and create a multi screen visual piece of work comprisingof 3x1min looped films that will be screened simultaneously on three separate Portrait HD screens.
You must detail your research of both the concept and the techniques you have used to create the film, and evidence this through an online Blogger. This will be assessed along with the final film against the unit.
I currently have 3 strong ideas to play around with. I am very excited of what the overall result would be of my final piece.
For now research is in order for my 3 ideas, these will be shown within the following blog posts.
